Volume 21

Religion is mans attempt to promote the belief of continuity after death and to fill the void and uncertainty left by the thought that maybe death is the end and life has no purpose. Religion justifies faith and death as a passage to immortality but only upon submission to the will of god and the teachings of one of the many self proclaimed prophets of your choosing.

Immortality
Promised to man
By man
According to god.
Devote your life to righteousness
God demands it.
Sinners rot in limbo and
One mans bible
Is another mans
Hell.
Choose wisely
Be judged harshly
Another option is to just cease living
Disbelieving.
But remember
Glory is fleeting
Memories fade
Empires crumble.
Religions trade the spotlight
Harboring beliefs
For the time being.
The desperate and empty
Conveniently choose prophets
To suit the mood,
Like the holy flavor of the week.
Savored by the masses
And spat upon by the non believers,
Only to be replaced
By the next best man
Chosen by god
Accepted by those looking for
Something else.
Eventually forgotten
And dismissed as false
By the same worshippers
That cried aloud begging to be saved
Looking for their savior of the week.
