The Koror Legacy

blade_chap27.jpgChapter 27 – Salem and Selene had changed into their night clothes for a well earned rest. Pawn was already snoozing away like a little chain saw in his soft ferret bed. Both the twins wanted to discuss with James and the other Blade Masters what had happened, however the Captain could see that they all needed rest. “It was Captains orders to hit the hay,” said Salem. “I know sis,” said Selene, “I still would have liked to!” “Now, no fight talk. Sleep,” interrupted Salem as she picked up the blanket for Selene to get under so they can both get to bed. A soft knock was heard on the door before Christina came in. “Salem, Selene?” called Christina as the white haired head popped through the door. “What is the matter Christina? Having trouble sharing a bed with Vivien?” asked Salem. “No, not at all, we like sleeping together,” said Christina as she entered the room, closing the door behind her. Christina was dressed much like the twins in only cloth socks on her feet with night shorts and an undershirt, although Christina’s ample chest took up most of the material of her undershirt. Christina sat down at a nearby chair and said, “I want to talk about that water giant.” Another more powerful knock was heard on the twins’ door. “Who is it?” asked Selene. “It’s Zealot,” said the person on the other side, “Are you two dressed, I need to ask something.” Salem looked at Selene, “He must want more.” “Shut up,” said Selene, “Sure, come in!”

Zealot entered the room to find Christina there. “Hey Chris,” said Zealot. “Hey Zel,” responded Christina. Zealot entered the room and closed the door leaving it opened a hair. Zealot was in the long robes he had found in his room. Then the red haired head of Vivien popped in through the door. “Come on Vivien, We know what you want,” said Selene. Vivien signs, “I’m not hungry.” as she entered the room. To Zealot’s discomfort, because his robes opened in the front, Vivien was dressed only in her very skimpy black underwear, of which was nothing more than thong underwear and a bra that barely covered her areolas. “Did not say you were,” said Selene. “Were what?” asked Salem. “She said she was not hungry,” answered Selene. “Now we have to wait for David, Jarody, Emhril and Haiku to show up,” said Christina. Selene laughed then said, “I think they would rather get their rest than sneak over to!” A knock at the door stopped Selene. “Come in!” said Salem. The door opened wide as Haiku ran into the room before her father Emhril stepped through the door. The HealthBlade came walking into the room after Emhril. Haiku, dressed in one of her fathers shirts, jumped on the bed of Salem and Selene and gave Selene a hug. Emhril was dressed in an old shirt and sweat pants with socks on his feet. “How may we help our little family?” asked Selene. “What was that large thing?” asked Emhril. “OK, everyone. Take a seat and get comfortable, we are going to tell you all about James and the Koror Family,” said Salem. “A story?” asked Haiku. “Yes, Haiku, a story,” said Selene. Everyone found a place around the bed to hear what the Twins had to say.

The Koror Legacy started with one man over six thousand years ago. Only seven hundred years after the world named Colloquy was created by Gin. Back then, Tidus, eldest son of Gin, ruled the sea like a shepherd would enforce his rule over a flock of sheep. Sea travel was very limited then and to cross the open ocean was to face Tidus and his mighty Blade. Then, Tidus’ Blade was not called the TidusBlade, men called it Tidus’ Sword of the Ocean. Only the bravest of men would venture out to sea to face Tidus and free the open sea from his hold. Tidus was only imposing his will in fear that any change, like people discovering more land at the other side, will change the world his father had created. Many men faced the Caretaker, few left alive, but none were successful. It was a young man named Koror from the tiny fishing village of Carp, who dared to face the giant. Son of a fisherman, as soon as Koror was able to buy his own boat, he had left to face Tidus. Unlike the others that faced Tidus before, who would venture out in large ships and a crew of hundreds of men, Koror was alone in the largest ship he could buy. It was not a very big ship at all. He also neglected to fill the ship with supplies like food and water.

It was three days out to sea and a storm was rolling in when Koror met the Caretaker. He challenged the giant, a fight to the death he yelled. This was the funniest thing Tidus had ever seen. Tidus told Koror that men twice his age and more hours on the water with strong men behind them had faced him and had failed. At that time, a huge ship that looked to be made of three ships combined to become one came up to the giant with a man with a long flowing beard and medals on his uniform called Tidus. The man threatened Tidus to give up his rule over the open sea or be killed by his great skill and their new weapon. The men on the huge ship hoisted up a large log with an iron arrow tip. Without warning, Tidus lifted his Sword of the Sea high over his head and yelled “Tidus Wave!” as he plunged his huge sword into the sea, causing a huge wave to be created and push the large ship back to where it came from. “Launch the weapon!” yelled the men and the iron tipped log flew out through the wall of water skimmed on the water and found it’s target in the chest of the Caretaker. Tidus just laughed and removed the log from his chest. To the Caretaker, it was no bigger then a small stick. The Caretaker threw the weapon back at the large ship and it got lodged in the middle ship standing straight up like a large flagpole. The men called for a retreat and the ship turned and took off.

After his business with the men were done, Tidus turned back to Koror and his small boat. The Boat was there but no Koror. Tidus looked around for the youth but could not find him. Then Tidus realized that Koror had used the other ship as a distraction to get his plan going. A few more minutes passed until Tidus found Koror, not by looking but by feeling. Koror was swimming up inside Tidus’ body with homemade fins on his feet and hands and something on his back supplying Koror with air through a tube. Tidus began to change the current in his body to flush out the brazen young man, but Koror was a smart man. Koror knew that a heavy current heading down would mean another current going up to feed the downward one. Koror was able to find the upward current and make it higher inside Tidus. Tidus changed the currents in his body again and Koror found the new upward current. Koror made it to Tidus’ neck and filled a bag connected to a small metal rod. Koror let go of the air filled bag and allowed a current to pull him down to Tidus’ arm. Koror swam with all his strength trying with all he had to make it to the sword. Koror succeeded and grabbed onto the large sword. Tidus held his sword still as the man ran down to the tip and attached some wire to the end and then jumped off the sword and back into the water of the sea. Tidus did not know what to make of the man’s actions, in fact it looked as if the youth was now running away, swimming back to his small ship.

When Koror made it back to his boat, he looked up pasted the giant and saw the clouds were where he wanted them to be. Do you give up Tidus or do I have to go through with my plan to defeat you? Tidus could not believe what he was hearing. This small man child did nothing, yet he insists to have the upper hand. You lost little one, go home and return to your parents. Koror had something better planned. He took the other end of the metal wire and attached it to his ship then stood on a small pile of wood. At that time, the storm had arrived. Luck was on Koror’s side when the first lightning strike hit the small rod on the top of Tidus’ head. The energy traveled from the small rod, down Tidus’ body and to the sword. Tidus let go of his sword and fell back into the water. Koror was left waiting for what happened next. The storm hit hard and Koror fought it with everything he had. The storm lasted until daybreak and Koror had abandoned his sinking ship to climb on top of Tidus’ sword. Hours had passed before Tidus showed up again to find the young man on his sword, shivering cold and looking hungry. Tidus took pity on the youth and admitted his defeat, much to the shock of Koror.

As for proof, Tidus gave Koror his Blade to keep and show everyone that the open sea is free for travel from now on. He told Koror that he will join his father Gin in the Heavenly Temple. Koror can call on his body to use his sword again. When the Sword was passed down to Koror, it transformed into the ship it is today. Needless to say it took Koror some time to figure out how to control it, but when he brought it back home to Carp, it was a sight to behold. Word of Koror’s victory and the open ocean being free to explore reached all over the lands. As recognition of the young man’s accomplishment, the people of the village of Carp renamed their village Koror. Koror gathered a crew and patrolled the waters of Lysts for the protection of all the villages. The sword was named “˜The TidusBlade’ by Koror. The TidusBlade had been handed down from son to son and even to a few daughters and cousins keeping the chain of a direct family line to this very day. James is a direct descendent of Koror and will someday pass the TidusBlade onto Ensign John Koror. The last name of Koror started with Koror’s sons, but the middle name “˜Tidus’ is only given to those who became captain of the TidusBlade.

“Thus the Legacy of the Korors,” said Selene when she and her sister finished the story. Behind everyone, a loud snoring could be heard. The group turned to see who it was, to see Jarody laying on the floor, obviously faking it with his right thumb in his mouth. “The giant,” said Christina, “that was the real Tidus?” “Only the body of Tidus that was left behind when he joined his father,” said Salem. “All blades are able to call on their original owners,’ said Selene. “You mean I can call on the man who helped build the Mantyan Expanse Bridge?” asked Emhril. “Yes, Emhril, you can call on Balvizar if you find the need to,” said Salem. “There will be a difference. Only the body of the Caretakers can be called. With the other Blades, the spirit of the original masters can be called, not the body,” explained Selene. “I can call on the original owner of my GullBlade?” asked Christina. “Well, not you Chris, you are the original owner of the GullBlade,” said Salem. “No one has owned the GullBlade, the GunBlade, my WitchBlade, the MirrorBlade or the ScytheBlade before, nor have there been a formal master for the LightBlade or the KeyBlade,” said Selene. “How about the BoltBlade?” asked Haiku. “Bolt, the Caretaker of the Dead,” said Salem. “Carber had a master?” asked Haiku. “Yes he did, she was a doctor. What you know about the body and how it works is thanks to her,” said Selene. “That is why Sturmer can fix the MobilBlade or any other machine. The SwitchBlade’s former owner was a master engineer who used to work on the TidusBlade. “Did you know any of the formal owners?” asked Zealot. “Only Balvizar and Dr. Widow,” said Salem. Vivien signed “Wait, I know for a fact that the Mantyan Expanse Bridge was built over three thousand years ago. How could you have known Balvizar?” “Vivien asked how Salem and I could have known Balvizar, who lived three thousand years ago,” said Selene. “That is because we are four thousand three hundred and sixty years old Vivian,” said Salem. “That is our age of twenty four years plus the four thousand three hundred and thirty six years we have been immortal,” said Selene. Vivien’s jaw dropped. “And Jarody is only four thousand three hundred and fifty three years old,” said Salem. “I thought I was the oldest here.” signed Vivien. “How old are you?” asked Selene. Vivien took out her PDA and wrote “973″. “You are still a young vampire,” said Salem. “We broke Captain’s orders long enough. We all better get to bed and get plenty of rest,” said Selene. The group agreed and left the twins’ room.

Captain James Koror was in his office signing off on paperwork and repair reports. There was a knock on the door. “Come in,” said James. Ensign John entered the office holding a Mirror Blade. “We need to talk about David, Captain,” said John. “Please, John, We are off duty now, call me father,” said James. “I’m trying to tell you that I don’t think David’s to be trusted,” said John as he put the mirror blade in front of his father. On the mirror blade, an image of David fighting off the prisoners played over and over again. “Look at that sword style, perfect control of a scimitar, that swagger with the near off center balance and sidesteps with a jump. That is the fighting style of a filthy pirate,” said John. “What are you saying son? You believe your little brother would betray us?” asked James. “He has been gone for a very long time,” said John. “NO!” yelled James as he pounds hard on his desk, “We thought your brother dead and now here he is, alive and well. Your mother and I are very happy we have the family together.” “But he stole hundreds of collons and ran away without work or even a note saying what he was doing. Now he is back no better off then he was, dressed in rags and the smell of pirates on him. You do know he is only here because he got mixed up with the twins and has to travel with them,” said John. “I know and I am very glad he is in their company. The Gemini Twin HexBlade Masters have been friends with our family for thousands of years and every captain who served the TidusBlade are still in great debt after all they have done for us. The next generations of Korors could spend their lifetimes paying back the twins but it will not be enough compared to what they have done for us. If only they were able to give birth I would have married one of them,” said James. “I know how important the twins are to us, my trust in them is strong, it is David I don’t trust, and I don’t think the twins should trust him either,” said John. “Are you done?” asked James. “Yes I am,” said John. “Then leave my office,” said James. John grabbed the Mirror Blade and stormed out of his father’s office. James sat back in his chair, linked his hands together and brought his hands up to his lips in deep thoughts of what had just happened.
