The Quest For The KingBlade
October 3rd, 2005 by Salem
Chapter 1 – The Gemini Twin HexBlade Masters, Salem and Selene, walk to the secret place only known as The Dead Swamp. This place has no life in it at all and to travel through it is to give your life to it. This is the place Salem and Selene go to at least once every 4 years. Salem, with a heavy bag on her back while Selene leads the way with the LightBlade in one hand and a map in the other. The LightBlade lights the way for the two HexBlade Masters in this place where fire will not burn nor sunlight can penetrate. The Map, passed down for thousands of years from the first RaptorClan member to have lived. This map is the only map of the swamp and it showed the location to where the twins were headed. They passed and bypassed the traps set to stop those who would be foolish enough to venture into the swamp unaided. Past the Raptor rock where Lord DarkRaptor had left her mark long ago, long before her death and the disbanding of the RaptorClan.
Salem, the GothRaptor and Selene, the BladeRaptor walk past this rock in knee high water filled with death and decay. They can see the rock lit by the LightBlade and remember of the times when they were in the Clan. However, Salem continues to long for the solid ground they had left an hour ago, but to her it seems to be a day already. The twins have not spoken a word since leaving the dry ground and the warm light of the sun as well as the fresh air, but Selene can hear her sister’s complaints as if Salem were yelling it for the entire swamp to hear.
Selene’s foot hits solid ground causing her to go through the map once again to see if this is the place. After consulting the parchment, Selene turns to her sister and gives a smile, letting Salem know that they are finally there. The twins climb out of the wetness, the surface tries to pull them back in as they leave. They still step onto the hard ground without trouble. Selene takes the large pack off of Salem’s back as Salem pulls out the KeyBlade. The KeyBlade can open or lock any door and passage not protected by magic. Salem points to a yellowish flat rock on the solid ground. The rock looks to be only a small thing that a person might kick around just cause it is there. Salem holds the KeyBlade out then turns it as if it were in some unseen keyhole. The stone turned in the same direction and fell into a small hole. The hole started to make a line in the ground . The line got longer and wider until it reveals stairs going down into the earth. Selene did not think there was a place darker then the swamp they were in but yet, there was the darkness in the hole. Selene puts the pack on her own back for it was Salem’s turn to lead the way.
Salem takes the LightBlade in one hand and continued to wield the KeyBlade in the other as she starts to make her way down the yellow stone steps. Selene follows into the pitch blackness that the LightBlade could not even cut through very easy. The walls were rough to the point of cutting the skin, and the top of the cave was forcing them to keep their heads down. The cave was a labyrinth with twists, turns, downhill, uphill, forks as well as round rooms that had a number of doors. Only the KeyBlade knew what was the right door for the rooms were made in such a way where it was never the same door from before. 20 rooms they went through and more hallways from each room took them 2 hours more to navigate. Then they reached it.
The dead end. The only one of all the dead ends that was not marked. Salem thought as she always did before whenever she came face to face with the unmarked dead end on how 90% of the other passages had some sort of death trap in them and how lucky a person would have to be to find one that just ends in a marked dead end. Knocking this thought out of her head, Salem points the KeyBlade at the flat wall and does the same as before with the small rock. The entire wall turns in the same direction as the KeyBlade then comes to a stop as Salem stops turning the KeyBlade. The wall then falls away to a void. Salem and Selene enter the void, a large room. Salem takes the LightBlade and inserts it into a slot in the side of the wall next to the entrance where the light is taken and divided and duplicated and magnified and passed along both mirrors and crystals where finally the entire room is lit by the Blades everlasting light.
This was the chamber of The KingBlade. The Blade that controls and masters over all the other Blades. The Enchanted Blades like the KeyBlade and the LightBlade, The Tech Blades like the GunBlade and the SwitchBlade, the War Blades like the EarthBlade and the HeavyBlade, and even the blades made by man like swords and knives. This is the blade the twins came to clean. It must not be allowed to rust for it is the power of controlling all other Blades that makes it imposable for anyone or anything else to control them other then the ones who wields them and uses them. With the KingBlade safe where it is, no one but the ones who are destined to use the other Blades can control them. The Kingblade also gives whoever uses it endless power, like the power over death since the KingBlade can control the ScytheBlade. The power is just too much for anyone to use without being corrupted by it. This is why the Twin HexBlade Masters keep it where no one can find it. But it still must be cleaned so it can keep it’s power.
Selene opens the pack to get out the oils, cloths and home made cleaners ready as Salem climbs the golden steps of the alter to the white marble block covered with Purple cloths. Then at the top, Salem discovers that KingBlade is missing! She quickly runs down and tells Selene. The twins return to the alter and look everywhere on it, and as the cloth is pulled off the block, a small stone falls. The stone is not like anyting the Twins have ever seen. “This could be from the Volcanic Land” concludes Salem. “We will need help to travel there, if the KingBlade is there at all.” answers Selene. Salem, looking at the small stone laments, “It is the only clue we have.”
