Cadia
October 6th, 2005 by ApocolypticaChapter 2 – There are few things in the galaxy that are powerful enough to make a smile of both joy and terror cross the face of captain shanks, one of the few that do however was the sight of a warp rift forming, the beauty of it piercing the blackness of space, and the fear of what dwells in that hellish place. However being a captain aboard The Emperors Fist had taken him through it on several occasion, in his opinion it never failed to inspire. However he had not reached his 121st birthday by being naive or stupid and knew that this time something was different about the warp rift, instead of the usual blood red light emitting from it, there was a dark green light the likes of which he had never seen before. as he stared on he caught sight of the ship, twice the size of his own, it looked almost ancient architecture like that of a race once on earth, he tried to remember the name, knew it started with a EG and that they lived in a desert, but could not, he concluded that they were long dead and he was still very alive and needed to focus, worry about it later.
“all hands battle stations, batteries fire on my order, fighter screens lauch” he spoke into his vox caster, his voice echoing over the sirens that were waking those who still had not woken or thought it was a drill. “Mr. Gada bring the fleet up to support tell the omni vicint to come along side us for a strafe, order all ships to battle readiness, alert them to fire on my mark” “aye captain” responded his first officer, a young man, but bloody brilliant, and loyal as feth. “sir all ships and fighters report battle ready” “all batteries commence firing, all ahead full” “aye sire all ahead full batteries fire range 135 down trim 32, sir should i order the fighters to attack?” asked Gada, “no maintain the fighter screen lets see what they do”
He stared at the craft as the shells detonated, but it just kept coming with only small holes in the hull, not even internal fires, he ordered that the fighter screen advance and attack the main ship. As they approached they were shot up from seemingly nowhere, in space, he tracked a shot back to the source and used the bionics to see what it was, horror filled its face, it was…ground troops, flung from the ship where it had been hit. But they weren’t wearing any space suits but they kept firing until they were out of range and just stopped. His attention switched back to the battle, his fighters were being engaged by some strange craft that looked like small versions of the big one. There were so many of them and they were shredding the fighter screen, it was already down to 15%, of the original 1500 fighters. And there were still more of those things coming after his ship. A flash burned his retina. He looked to the right and saw the omni vicint torn in two by a single straight beam of green light from the behemoth still approaching them. He saw a similar fate had befallen The Requisitioned, or what was left of it before it was destroyed by a second blast. The once 5 strong fleet was already down to 2 active ships and one critical, and the enemy, already the damage that was dealt before was gone, repaired by a liquid looking junk which filled the gapes and filled the holes. he was about to order ramming speed, and stopped mid sentence, the bridge was filled with a great green light, and the source speeding at them with intense speed, but to him it all happened in slow motion, and then it hit, the entire bridge destroyed, secondary explosions ripped the halls and corridors killing as it went with intense heat. one such of these explosions breached the reactor core, the following meltdown tore the ship into pieces no smaller then your fist, it did the same to the remaining sections of the omni vicint and crippling the last ship, The Devastator, which was left to fall from orbit slowly crashing to the ground 12 hours later taking all hands with it. The fleet in taters, the vast Tomb ship moved on at that same intimidating unchanging slow speed towards Cadia unopposed.
